Linear Profile
A linear DCP removes all tone mapping from your raw file. Where a standard camera profile applies contrast and brightness adjustments at the raw processing stage, a linear profile passes the sensor's data through untouched.
The result is a flat, accurate starting point that gives you complete control over how the image is rendered in post.
ColorChecker Calibrated
Generic linear profiles use default color matrices that are not specific to your camera's sensor. Every Color Precision Linear profile is built from a ColorChecker chart shot with your exact camera body under D65 and tungsten light sources. The color science accurately reflects how your specific sensor responds to light.
The result is more accurate color and better skin tones compared to a generic linear profile.
Dual Illuminants
Every Color Precision Linear profile is calibrated under two lights: warm tungsten (StdA) and D65 daylight.
White balance only makes whites and grays neutral. Every other color depends on how the light's spectrum mixes with your camera sensor's color response, so reds, skin tones, and greens can shift depending on the light source, even when the white balance is set correctly. A profile calibrated under one light is accurate near that light and drifts the further you move from it.
With both calibrations in the profile, Lightroom blends between them based on your white balance, so color stays accurate under indoor light, daylight, or anything in between.
